Our Story

From a Family Butchers to Apartment

Apartment 13a is nestled in the Georgian town of Whitehaven. We’re located in the central town close by to the hustle and bustle of the town, shops, bars, clubs, cafes and more.

Apartment 13a has been a family-owned building for 50 years and has been passed down through generations. The building was initially bought in 1985 from Mason, bought by David Cruden, who then made the building into a butcher’s and greengrocer’s, which he ran with his brother Colin. David’s wife, Teresa, ran the greengrocers and then renovated the building over the last 15 years.

David’s family today run this fantastic, spacious holiday let, turning it into another well-established family business.

Nothing was too much for Gayle, she changed our towels during our stay and responded swiftly for any communications. Information for parking and the flat was clear and comprehensive. The flat was new and freshly decorated. Excellent selection of general food bits in cupboards such and tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, a good range of cooking utensiles, crockery. She even left a large bag of ice in the freezer which was a nice touch. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were also provided in the bathroom, as well as more than and enough toilet rolls to cover our stay. Really considerate of her clients needs. Thank you Gayle for a brilliant experience.

Had a wonderful relaxing week in Gayle’s lovely Airbnb. Light airy , very spacious and cool which in the recent weather was just the best. Perfect location to be able to walk all around. 24 hour parking was 4 minutes away and very cheap. Would definitely recommend staying here.
